Skateboarding is getting its debut at the 2020 Olympics as one of five new sports being added to this year’s summer Olympics. With the Olympics being held in Tokyo this year, Nike SB joins forces with FTC once more as they produce a Dunk that gives a nod to Japanese heritage. The appearance of the FTC Dunks takes inspiration from Japanese bathhouses which have been fundamental community spaces for hundreds of years as a destination for people to relax and recharge.

The materials of the shoes compose a visual reflection of a Japanese bathhouse. The base material is a crystal blue suede, highlighted with textured icy white leather that depicts the tiles of the bathhouse and a clear sole. Finally, the padding around the ankle is given a cozy treatment with a bright yellow towel-like material to top off the tribute to this Japanese tradition.
