FRAME + Heavy Rotation Infra-habibi-technics at Kunsthalle Bern

An invitation calls for more invitations.ยน Lantian Xieโs ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ท๐บ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐๐ฏ๐ง๐ณ๐ข-๐ฉ๐ข๐ฃ๐ช๐ฃ๐ช-๐ต๐ฆ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฏ๐ช๐ค๐ด is an exhibition set that draws on a collisional and discordant world using interrelational tactics and techniques. A constellation of relations is made in varying scales,ยฒ some easily discernible while others remain opaque until you look closely at how the world spins. No material is possible without a dizzying set of connections. Every object shows a chain of links to politics, policy, architecture, class, deep time, sauces, sources, and more.
ยน Lantian Xie extends invitations to exhibit his work to a set of relations that can be found in music bands, film, photographic, and theater sets, ecosystems, and more. The intellectual pull that an exhibition draws from is oftentimes invisible. This exhibition shifts that invisibilized network into focus and uses it as a technique. My initial invitation to Lantian thus extended into an invitation to the following protagonists: Aarushi Surana, ฤฐpek Hamzaoฤlu, Kaushal Sapre, Aasma Tulika, Alla Semenovskaya, Sabih Ahmed, Laura Nitsch, Ornaghi & Prestinari, FRAME and Nanni. The invitation then returned to Kunsthalle Bern, asking us to think and produce with this relational frame in mind.
ยฒ In the documentary film ๐๐ฏ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ (One World In Relation, 2010) by Manthia Diawara, รdouard Glissant describes a complex web of relations that also includes the opaqueness of life, which formed the basis of his work.

For the collaboration with FRAME, they explore the relationship of 80s Bollywood, most notably Yash Chopraโs Chandni released in 1989, and its unique relationship with the country of Switzerland. A country that immortalized the renowned director and his work in the country.
Taking a Drama, Musical and Romance film into a polar opposite direction, turning it horror and dark, screen printed on a t - shirt that withers with time.
